Dr. Flo Mitchell, DVM, has served the greater Washington
D.C., Northern Virginia, and Southern Maryland areas for more than 20
years. She is an active
member of the American
Association of Housecall Veterinarians.
Having Dr. Mitchell come to your home to treat your pets instead of
taking your pets to the veterinarian's office is advantageous to both
you and your pets.
- Patient comfort
Many pets experience a great deal of stress traveling to see the
veterinarian. Pets may express their displeasure in many ways, including
urinating in the car, vomiting, becoming anxious or aggressive, or
hiding either prior to or after the trip. When the vet sees your pet in
the familiar surroundings of its normal household environment, it is
less stressful for everyone involved.
- Patient health
Viruses, bacteria, and parasites can sometimes survive in veterinary
hospital waiting rooms. With a housecall veterinarian, you don't have to
worry about your pet picking up something from the animal who was
sitting in the waiting room just before you. Also, you don't have to
worry about mediating a fight between your pet and other animals in the
waiting room with you.
- Convenience
Since the veterinarian comes to you, you don't have to load your pets
into your car and drive them to the clinic. You don't have to wait in an
uncomfortable waiting room. You don't have to find creative ways to
entertain your children in the doctor's office, or try to block out the
screams of the children sitting next to you in the waiting room. You
simply relax in your home and go about your normal routine until the vet
arrives.
